Increase in opportunistic vehicle crime in Charlton

We have been informed by Royal Borough of Greenwich Safer Spaces team that they have been alerted to a rise in vehicle crime by opportunistic people trying car doors.

Please can you communicate with residents through your channels to advise them.

You can do simple things to reduce the opportunity for crime:

  1. Ensure you LOCK your vehicle

  2. Make sure that windows are CLOSED

  3. If you have a keyless vehicle, make sure that you store your fob in a FARADAY bag or similar. Even in a fridge or a freezer bag will do.

  4. REPORT all suspicious behaviour

  5. Do NOT leave anything in the vehicle

Areas affected include Charlton Church Lane and surrounding areas
